Modern envy, broken by design
Swaying, stealing glances at his technicolor wife
Nightclub whispers, serenading us
Conspicuous intentions & a wallet full of lust
Guilty pleasures, lick the hand that feeds
Searching for a monologue that covers all her needs
Faceless shadows fortify the bar
Trying to forget how insignificant we are
And I don't know, I don’t know which way to go
Oh I don't know, I don’t know if I should say hello
Something wicked this way comes
“Son, try to avoid that deviant blonde”
...that blonde
Ruby slippers, another slipped my mind
Busy taking photos of the sentimental kind
Imperfection, curse this gentle breeze
Sensation of completion I will probably never see
Empty handed, stumbling down the street
Silhouette of wasted life so quiet in defeat
Inner kingdom, total disarray
The sun will come so I can rise to fall another way
“Judgement mistaken in the golden age of the gas station
She starts her crying, but her lips are moving so I know she's lying”
Something wicked this way came

Red Dress Whore
04:44
|
|||
Moving wallpaper. Another neon sign
Roaring city. Quiet desert night
Fever for the tempest, roses in our eyes
We strike another match, we light another smoke
Ain’t used to it, just actors in a film that’ll never show
Red dress whore looking for more
On the roof, taken off her shoes
And there’s nothing in her eyes so we nail another line
Strange, it feels strange to lose my mind
Curious condition, circling in the light of second chance
Hunting bad romance
Cheshire lies. Shallow highs. Salacious sense of time
Then she appears on the lonely mile
Eyes like coal, into my soul, call me up from down below
The day the music died, on that oldtown night
Strange, it feels strange to lose my mind
She spoke without vice in a place that wasn’t true
And all she ever wanted was a room with a view

Sienna
03:22
|
|||
How you conquer breaking down
Eyes like sunsets, legs so long
18 summers, the last so short.
Suntans fading, the battles fought
Oh, Sienna, no
My doctor told me so
Oh, Sienna, no
It’s time for you to go
It’s come to my attention,
She enjoys her own reflection
Blinded by the lust, I
crumble at her touch

Black of the Night
04:59
|
|||
Il n'y a rien de certain dans la vie d'un homme
excepté le fait qu'il doit perdre
Comfort of the night
Where the sinners eat the light
Streets of restless soul
Where do the lost girls go
I see the wolves from here
They’re hungry for my flesh
The future it ain’t clear
When I die, what will I wear
Black of the night, high as a kite
Charon waiting, so polite
Black of the night, high in the sky
Lightning dancing left or right
Or maybe I’m just scared
That I am not prepared
To give it all away
Before I have my say

Lethargic Caffeine
04:59
|
|||
Sick and tired of looking skyward
Lethargic caffeine, a toast to an anaemic rock n’ roll dream
Sick and tired of trying to justify it
When I was sixteen, wish I’d bought that pristine tambourine
They say triumph goes to they who seek
With no triumph, where does that leave me
They say triumph goes to they who seek
With no triumph, will they remember me
The nature of the beast means one day there’ll be release
And what have I to leave
You think your life be measured by the treasure in your fancy house
Well you can have it all, cause’ I want somethin’ else
Beyond the valley is a place I long to reach
Somewhere the taste ain’t fake, and grass is finally green
Satisfaction with the way it came to be
Lost sight of the valley, but I’ll continue to seek

Skyroads
02:44
|
|||
The stories that you’re about to hear, collected over 30,000 years
Narratives of function on a never-ending loop
We’re all made of flesh & blood, that much is clear
From summer limbs to golden rings, the construction of a pipeline dream
The fragile line between life & death, or the absence of a theme
The power of the mind & the places it can go
We ain’t got no money, but we got a lot ‘a soul
Skyroads are the way out at the end of a long hard day
Close your weary eyes & let them carry you away

Azrael Silene
04:43
|
|||
Azrael Silene
By Christ, the things that he has seen
Lizard before the queen
With a bloody crossbow at his feet
Azrael Silene
His best friend stands beside him, he’s a bear
He goes by Timmy Brown
They turn & walk away without a sound
Many lives were lost
To Azrael Silene and Timmy Brown
The thieves they fought bravely
But one by one went down
They were no match
For the strength of Timmy Brown
Azrael Silene
Sick & tired of fighting off the thieves
They say they came in peace
Then tear the very floor from ‘neath his feet
Azrael Silene
He very rarely speaks
But the pages of history
They’ll speak of Azrael Silene

The Right Price
03:05
|
|||
Where are we to go?
(This place is burning, but my feet are a little cold)
With no way to raise the dead, or sail away until
the trouble disappears
There will be no one left
to find us at the end
Species asking, but we knew we couldn't tell
Secret’s safe with us we'll carry it to hell
“Hell, they'll sell anything when the price is right”
How were we to know?
(What good are warnings when the heroes are the foe)
Now there's noone left to blame, we raise our glasses as
the acid starts to rain
There will be no one left
to find us at the end
It draws nearer, we all begin to sweat
Guilty hands fumbling with that one last cigarette
“And they're left wondering if the price was right”

Cowboys and Indians
05:47
|
|||
The year was 87. The world was ours to take
Anything we didn't have, we'd just create
Billy was a warrior. A champion of life. That's how I know he will survive
We talked of climbing mountains, kissing girls, and breaking hearts
That cheeky grin was always just the start
When the real world was boring, we built one for ourselves
Seems everything's so complicated now
Billy was the cowboy, while I carried the bow
We battled in the sand dunes til’ the sun was sailing low
I could never ever beat him, he was always just too fast
But on that summer's night, hidden in the dark
My time had come at last
He was my best friend, never double crossed his mate,
Til' that disco in the spring of '98
my heart was set on her and Billy knew that for a fact
As he kissed her, I swore I'd get him back
We talked of wasting money, drinking piss, and smoking dots
Driving miles to nowhere in his car
When the real world was boring, we looked for an escape
Never gave a second thought to tempting fate
Billy was the cowboy, while I carried the bow
We battled in the sand dunes til' the sun was sailing low
I crept out from the shadows, I didn't make a sound
The birds came to a halt, deathly silence all around
Billy hit the ground
Years flew by as always. Cut our hair, we both got jobs
Bid our childish games a sweet so long
Billy stayed on with her. They had kids, they built a home
Began to wish I had one of my own
Billy was a doctor, I worked my trade from home
I went to fix his shower and I found her home alone
I don't know how it happened, it's too late for all that now
He turned to the bottle and he never turned back round
An arrow in the back
Billy hit the ground

We Killed a Man
02:46
|
|||
Good God
"We killed a man, ran him over with a Cadillac"
“What are we gonna do?!
Cold dead eyes just starin’ at you”
“We're wasting time!”
“Everythin's gonna be fine”
“Get the body in the trunk. We got 3 hours ‘fore they start the hunt”
Good God
“He's still alive, heard him wrigglin' in the trunk all night”
“That's even worse, the bastard'll take us for all that we're worth”
“We got no choice....”
(We flip a coin)
“Go get the gun, unlucky for him but it's gotta be done”

Colour
03:47
|
|||
Colour changed this place
The kids are in the town, fresh beards & lipstick on their faces
Dynamite skin, & I'm still contemplating why you left with him
Girl with flowers in her hair, taste her somewhere far away from here
Damage toll begins, eye for eye, tit for tat, sin for sin
The future will falter, and we rely
On senses that take us back in time
